Child Safety Standards
Last updated: August 2, 2026
Withly has no tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves to, what we do to prevent and act on it, and how to reach us. It applies to everything on Withly: events, invitations, images, chat, groups and profiles.
1. Our standards
The following are prohibited on Withly without exception, and are grounds for immediate and permanent removal:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), in any form, including drawings, renderings and computer-generated imagery.
- Sexualising a minor in text, images or any other content, including in an event description, a profile, a group or a message.
- Grooming, solicitation, sextortion, or arranging to meet a minor for a sexual purpose.
- Trafficking of minors, or advertising, promoting or facilitating any of the above.
- Using Withly to make contact with a minor for any of the above purposes.
These standards apply regardless of whether the content is public, shared through an invite link, or sent privately.
2. Minimum age
Withly is not for children. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service, as set out in our Terms of Service. Accounts we identify as belonging to someone under that age are removed.
3. How we prevent it
- Every uploaded image is reviewed. Event covers and profile pictures are checked against our image policy (Terms, section 5), and anything breaching it is removed. Removal is enforced on the stored files, not only in the interface.
- Reporting is built in. Anyone can report a user, an event, an image, a group or a message from inside the app or the website, including without an account, because public events and invite links are visible to people who are not signed in.
- Blocking is built in. Any user can block another, which stops them sending friend requests or invitations.
- Private by default. Events are private unless a host deliberately publishes them, and a public event is reviewed before it appears on Explore.
4. How to report it
If you see something on Withly that puts a child at risk:
- In the app or on the website, use the report action on the profile, event, image or message. Reports go to our team. We never tell the person who reported them.
- By email, write to safety@withly.app. This address is monitored, and CSAE reports are prioritised above everything else in the queue.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Reporting to us is not a substitute for that.
5. What we do about it
When we find or are told about CSAE on Withly, we:
- Remove the content immediately, without waiting for an appeal.
- Terminate the account, and take reasonable steps to prevent the person returning.
- Preserve the relevant records for the period required by law, so that an investigation is still possible after the content is gone from the Service.
- Report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and cooperate with law enforcement and with our local authorities in the Netherlands and the EU.
Unlike our other moderation decisions, a removal on these grounds is not appealable through the normal route described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Compliance contact
For regulators, hotlines, law enforcement and platform partners, our point of contact for child safety matters is:
We aim to respond to law-enforcement and regulator enquiries within one business day.
7. Applicable law
We comply with the child-safety laws that apply to us, including the EU Digital Services Act and Netherlands law, and with the child safety standards policies of Google Play and the Apple App Store.
